JOHN F. DOWLING JR of Florence, SC died September 28, 2016 at the age of 69. He began working for the Stoudenmire Funeral Home in the early eighties as a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and in 1988, he and his wife, Wanda purchased the business, renaming it Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. He previously worked at the Belk-King Funeral Home in Darlington and served other funeral homes throughout his career before retiring in 2012. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville and was a member of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and served as president of the South Carolina State Board of Funeral Service from 1998 until 1999.
