JAMES E. "JIM" SMITH of Wilmington, OH died December 16, 2016 at the age of 72. He began his long career in the funeral industry working with his father, the late L. Eugene Smith at the L. Eugene Smith & Son Funeral Home in New Vienna. Together they purchased the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home in Wilmington in 1973. He later owned and operated both funeral homes with his son, Shane C. Smith as well as a private ambulance service that was associated with the funeral homes. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1968 and was a member the National Funeral Directors Association and served as past director at large and past president of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, District 11.
