GEORGE P. "GEE" KALAS, JR of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD died August 15, 2016 at the age of 68. He was a fourth generation funeral director at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home in Oxon Hill, which was established by his parents, Jean and George P. Kalas, Sr in the 1970s. He assumed the presidency of the company upon his father's retirement in 1982. As the company grew, he and his brother, Bob saw an opportunity to expand and together they opened a second funeral home in Edgewater in 1997. He obtained his degree in mortuary science from the Catonsville Community College and was a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association.
