To the Calhoun Family,
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Mr. Calhoun and family have graciously opened their doors and heart to me personally and for that I am grateful. I trust and believe that the Lord will be your peace during this season of grief. I pray for your strength in times of weakness and distress. I am encouraged to know that Mr. Calhoun was a great man of integrity and character, which he exemplified to all. My prayers are continually with and for you. Words are inadequate, but, love needs no other expression that to love and return love.

Therefore, let us love one another every day and do all we can for one another so that
when the time comes for our astronomical flight, we accept death without question.

I shall always hold dear the words of Bill as he was affectionately known, when I was employed with and for them in the formative years, "hey Rev....."

Death cannot take away fond and loving memories.

I remain,

--Pastor Odinga Lawrence Maddox I AKA 'Rev."

To The William Calhoun Family

I'm so very sorry for your Loss. May The Lord of Almighty Spirits and The Elect One wrap their Loving Arms and Comfort you at this most Difficult time. I would like to share these comforting words:

Im Still Here
I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me,

I'm still here, though you don't see.

I'm right by your side each night and day,

And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near,

I'm everything you feel, see or hear.

My spirit is free, but I'll never depart,

As long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight.

I'm the brightest star on a summer night.

I'll never be beyond your reach.

I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around,

And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.

I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,

The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,

The first warm raindrop that April will bring.

I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,

And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,

You can talk to me through the Lord above you.

I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,

And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep,

And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.

I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.

Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

The Family of William Calhoun,
My sincere condolences to the family, I have missed seeing Billy's smile and his presence when we buried my Uncle Nelson Lawler, he was there when we buried my grandfather Jerry Lawler. Billy was always there to say Hi cousin and give you that hug. The last time I actually spoke to Billy he said he was looking forward to the next family gathering at my parents house because he and his weren't able to attend the last one we had about two years ago. When he would see me or my sister he would always ask about the next cookout. He was just such a wonderful person and Billy was well respected throughout the community and also by members of his family, and he will be deeply missed, I know I will miss him. I will keep each and every one of you in my prayers now and will continue to pray for all of you throughout this transition.

Byron,
I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family for the loss of Mr. Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was truly a legend and not only for being a phenomenal businessman. He was a strong black man of character and integrity. He was a mentor and friend to anyone who crossed his path. I will never forget how professional, kind and inviting he was when my sister and I went to make pre-arrangement plans for my mother. This day was literally one of the worst days of my life but Mr. Calhoun somehow was able to make me feel like everything was going to be okay. I walked out of that meeting at peace which was completely opposite of how I had felt before arriving. The loss of this GREAT man is felt by man and will continue to be felt for years to come. My love and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.

Deepest condolences to both the Calhoun immediate family and extended family.

Mr. Calhoun was always there for our family in our times of loss. Thank you for supporting Buchtel High School and the entire West Akron community as a whole by actually staying in the community to work and to live.

I know Byron and Preston will keep the tradition and standard of first class service to all alive and well. I know that because of the outstanding example set by Mr. Calhoun and Mr. Stewart as well as my own personal experience when our mother passed in 2005. My deepest apologies for not being able to travel home to express my condolences in person.

Special shout-out to my former colleagues at BHS Melissa (and Ricky) Powers.

Byron and family:
Sending my heartfelt sympathy and prayers as you all mourn the loss of your loved one. Mr. Calhoun was an extraordinary, gracious and humble man whose kind spirit will be missed by the many people's lives he touched. I will sorely miss being greeted by his friendly smiling face & kind words when attending homegoing services officiated by Stewart & Calhoun. Two years ago I had an essay assignment to complete for school and I chose Mr. Calhoun as my subject matter. My respect and admiration for him magnified even more after learning of the adversity & challenges he faced and how he did not allow either to deter him from fulfilling his dream/vision. I earned a perfect score on my essay, but most importantly I was encouraged and inspired as a result of learning his background and story...I will forever cherish this memory.

Byron...continue to emulate your father's AMAZING legacy! You and your family will remain in my prayers.
